Dynamic City Foundation

Dynamic Density - the organic reality behind China's master plan

Neville Mars from the Dynamic City Foundation will give a lecture at Columbia University, NYC on the 6 of October 2008.

Neville is currently in a lecture tour around the world, promoting his new book " THE CHINESE DREAM - a society under construction ", wich i strongly recommande. Its an amazing prospective book about chinese urbanity, questionning paradoxes of China's struggle for change.
More info on Dynamic City Foundation
Those young architects, based in Beijing, are also developing a very good
collaborative research wiki Burb Tv.
Among the dozens of projects showed on this plateforme, Neville Mars and his team have been produced some amazing theorical works. The Beijing Boom Tower seems to me as a manifesto. Not to mention the quality of the production, especialy with this amazing oversized interactive model :

Blockbuster for architects

A new docu-blockbuster for architects is out now.
It's call BIRD’S NEST - HERZOG & DE MEURON IN CHINA, Featuring of course Herzog & De Meuron , and more characters like the chinese conceptual artist, curator, architect and journalist Ai WeiWei .

Its a film by Christoph Schaub and Michael Schindhelm, two swiss director.
Among the website, " it's shows how the Chinese culture affects the construction work of the architects: The specific architectonic form and the struggle to achieve it give us information about the society, the culture and everyday life in China. The film explores how these prestige buildings are being built in China. On the one hand, the documentary attempts to understand the two architects’ very own method of contextual building applied successfully again and again. On the other hand, it explores the Chinese side: their intentions, their expectations, and their strategies in this complex creation process.".

looking forward to see it.

the great wall

2006 11 04
Jonathan Meese poses as a Chinese revolutionary soldier at the Great Chinese Wall near Beijing, China
Jonathan Meese is a self-proclaimed cultural exorcist. In his performances, sculptures, and paintings he adopts a shamanistic role, schizophrenically channelling all manner of chaotic zeitgeist and psycho/media debris. In his self-portraits, Meese exaggerates his real-life ‘wild-man’ features, his image continuously mutating through a cast of characters – from demons to divas and superheroes – to develop potential narratives exploring the nature of power, corruption and contemporary mythology.
